About California Sea Lions

California sea lions, Zalophus californianus, are highly social and intelligent marine mammals found along the Pacific coast and around the Channel Islands. They are known for their playful nature, noisy barking, strong family bonds, and curiosity. Males can reach up to 7 feet in length and 850 pounds. Females can reach 6 feet in length and 250 pounds.

As top predators in the kelp forest ecosystem, they play an important role in maintaining the health and balance of our oceans.
